The Oathbreaker

The Oathbreaker

Book two in the Tattooed Warrior series

The Oathbreaker

The twelfth century had hardly begun when war and chaos threatened Europe again. Henry, the youngest son of William the Conqueror, has stolen the crown of England from his older brother, Duke Robert of Normandy. However, Henry may not hold the throne, for he is a despised oathbreaker, and the Anglo-Norman nobles flock to Duke Robert’s banner to take the crown back. Duke Robert sails for England with a force outnumbering Henry’s army by three to one, so victory seems inevitable.
Our Horse Warrior hero, Conn Fitz Malvais, is dropped into the middle of this maelstrom. Recruited by Chatillon, the Papal Assassin, he is placed in King Henry’s camp as a spy with orders to assassinate the dangerous Sir Hugh, Earl of Chester. However, the devious Ranulf Flambard is with the Duke, manipulating both sides for his gain. He also knows the secret of Conn’s true royal parentage and plans to reveal it.
Unaware of this impending danger, Conn has already acquired dangerous enemies. A jealous husband is out to take revenge for Conn making love to his wife, and a brutal Welsh mercenary kills two of Conn’s Horse Warriors and kidnaps another, but there seems to be no trail to follow.
